Harnessing the value of lived experiences to redefine how we, as a society, perceive intelligence.
Sounds lofty, some may even say sound arrogant or even delusional but…
Imagine a world where our lived experiences are esteemed as highly as our academic achievements.
Where diverse skillsets are embraced, fostering communities of divergent thinkers.
A world where everyone feels a sense of belonging because they believe they have something valuable to contribute.
This is my dream project. No matter what else I pursue, I always find myself returning to this pursuit.
I've experienced some success in chasing this dream. Most notably, in revitalising an inner-city youth football club on the brink of disappearance. Here, I emphasised the development of life skills through football, which in turn contributed to the establishment of a charity focused on transferring these skills into the everyday lives of young people. I played a significant role in shaping this charity initially in a voluntary capacity role before transitioning into a full-time role. At the same time, I helped spearhead a mental health project within the same football club, providing a sense of belonging for individuals facing mental health challenges.
So, I know the impact projects like these can have on people. When someone directly tells you how you have changed their life for the better, I cannot begin to express that feeling. If I had to pick an adjective, "humbling" would be it. Truly humbling.
But I know I can't achieve this vision alone. Until I find a partner or team to join me in this pursuit, it remains a vision—an evolved iteration of my past work, now encompassing a broader scope that embraces not only people's passions but also their diverse experiences and cultural backgrounds.
