I wasn’t sure what musical mood I was in earlier this week, so I rummaged through my Shazams and stumbled on a track I had absolutely no recollection of. So I had the delight of being surprised by my own taste… again.
It was the guitar lick that grabbed me. naturally curiosity got the better of me, I had to know where it came from… it turns out the lick traces back through MF DOOM to a jazz-funk cover of Bowie’s “Space Oddity” by David Matthews (not Dave from Dave Matthews Band). So one piece of music... Original → reimagined → repurposed.
