Continuing on from last week's theme of how music can enhance a scene in a film or TV series, I found myself listening to a song completely at random, and it instantly took me back to one scene from a film.
There are theme tunes like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and James Bond, where the music becomes inseparable from the whole film. But sometimes a song becomes tied to a single scene, which is very much the case here. So much so that the director planned this exact sequence before filming even started. He actually played the song aloud on the set and in the streets during shooting so the camera operators, cast, and crew could physically match the rhythm and pacing of the movement to the specific visual beats of the music.
The juxtaposition of the music against the scenes unfolding in front of you is, I think, one of the most iconic montages in cinema history.
