Since I got back to Jakarta, I think it’s fair to say everything’s been a bit of a blur. An avalanche of admin has descended upon me, and all the things I’d been trying to prepare for — but couldn’t properly move on until the visa cleared — have suddenly arrived thick and fast.
It was always going to be a full-on week, but at least it finally feels like things are moving in the right direction. There’s still plenty to do, but now it feels real.
At some point during the week — honestly, I can’t even remember what day — I was sat having a coffee when this song came on. And I don’t really know why, but it just resonated with me in that moment.
Maybe it was simply that I was sitting there without a screen in front of me for once. Usually, even when I try not to, there’s always a laptop or a phone demanding attention. But this time there wasn’t. Just coffee, music, and a brief moment to actually take stock of things without realising I was doing it.
And it’s not even particularly a memorable song in the grand scheme of things. It’s not like the lyrics suddenly spoke to me or anything dramatic like that. There was just something about it. Maybe the mellow, slightly hypnotic start that slowly pulls you in before the energy picks up and you suddenly find yourself locked into the beat. I think that’s probably it.
I don’t quite know how to explain it, to be honest. Just one of those moments.
So this week’s song choice is simply that… one of those moments when a song comes on at exactly the right time.
